The Peach State Classic marks racing’s return to Gresham Motorsports Park on May 16-17. On Thursday, a full weekend schedule for racing at the Peach State Classic was unveiled detailing all of the excitement on hand for the weekend, including a unique format for the $10,000-to-win Super Late Model feature.
The Peach State Classic will feature the Super Late Models of the Southern Super Series and CARS Tour, along with the Modifieds of Mayhem, the Wheelman Racing Series and Pro Trucks. The Super Late Models will use a heat-race format to set their feature lineup for Sunday’s big race.
On-track activity will begin Friday, May 15 with practice for the four divisions of racing scheduled for the weekend. Practice on Friday will start at Noon Eastern time, and run until 7:30 p.m.
This will also be an opportunity for fans to see cars make laps around the famed half-mile just north of Atlanta, Georgia. General admission is free of charge for Friday’s practice day, and Trackside Parking will be available as well.
Pit gates will open at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, while opening at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Spectator gates and trackside parking will open at Noon on Friday, 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Saturday, May 16 brings an action-packed day, with the Pro Trucks and Wheelman Racing Series competing in feature races. They will begin practice at Noon, with qualifying starting at 3:00 p.m. Those two divisions will have a drivers’ meeting at 5:00 p.m., with feature racing starting at 6:00 p.m.
The Pro Trucks will compete for 35 laps around Gresham Motorsports Park, with the Wheelman Racing Series feature is scheduled for 50 laps.
Super Late Models and Modifieds of Mayhem will also have practice sessions during Saturday’s on-track activities. The Super Late Models will also draw on Saturday for starting positions in heat races on Sunday, which will set the lineup for their feature race.
Those two classes will compete on Sunday, May 17. There will be a mandatory drivers’ meeting at 10:30 a.m. before practice and warm-up sessions begin at Noon.
Following practice, there will be an autograph session for Super Late Model competitors in the midway and merchandise area at 1:00 p.m. Modifieds of Mayhem competitors will qualify at 1:45.
That will lead into pre-race ceremonies and driver introductions, starting at 2:15. Following the conclusion of pre-race ceremonies, 10-lap Super Late Model heat races will set the field for their feature race.
After that, the Modifieds of Mayhem will contest their 51-lap feature, followed by the 151-lap Peach State Classic Super Late Model main event.
